What the hell is Mongol Rally??
The Mongol Rally began in 2004 with a small group of friends who decided to travel as far as they could.
The Rally starts every year in Mid July in England and ends at Mongolia's Capital (Ulaanbaatar), about 17,000 Km from the starting point.
The Rally's duration is about 4-6 weeks.
Over the years the rally developed into focusing on 2 main ideas:
1) Contributions to charities around the world (each team needs to raise 1,000 Euro to a charity he chose)
2) To experience to road and the environment in the most natural and healthy way!
The rally has 2 main rules to ensure an unforgettable ride:
1) Every vehicle has to be a crapy little car under 1 liter engine (the older the better!)
2) It is forbiden to drive on main roads or on high-ways
The idea of a small rubbish car is to generate unexpected problems and difficulties along the way.
In the Mongol Rally there isn't any help at all from the organizers: no mechanics, no spare parts, no organized meals...
Anything you think you might need for this rally you ought to bring it yourself, in your rubbish little car :-)
